The Guaranteed Inheritance Plan customer service team will explain the process and let you know what information and documents are needed.
Call: 0800 086 8937
Opening hours: Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm (excluding UK public holidays).
Calls will be recorded and may be monitored for training and quality assurance purposes.
Make a claim by post
If you'd prefer to make a claim in writing, please write to:
Freepost SUNLIFE GUARANTEED INHERITANCE PLAN
Before a claim can be paid, the claims team will need to assess it. They will let you know what information they need and send you the claim form to complete.
Please provide all the information requested. If anything is missing, they may not be able to finish assessing the claim.
What information may be needed?
Before a claim can be paid, it will need to be assessed.
Depending on the circumstances of the claim, the Guaranteed Inheritance Plan team may also ask for:
- the birth, marriage, or death certificate of the life insured
- proof of identity
- confirmation that you're entitled to make the claim
- evidence of a change of name
- other supporting information relevant to the claim
They will explain exactly what is required for your individual circumstances.
Additional evidence
Depending on the nature of the claim, further information to the life insured may be needed.
This could include:
- a report from the life insured’s doctor
- a report from a consultant
- access to relevant medical records
If any additional evidence is needed, the Guaranteed Inheritance Plan team will explain what is required and why.
What happens after a claim is approved?
If a claim is accepted, payment will be made to the person who can demonstrate they are legally entitled to receive it.
Payments will be made to a UK bank account.
Who receives payment will depend on the circumstances of the claim and whether a beneficiary was nominated or the policy was placed in trust.
