Since qualifying as an accountant in 2000, Ian Cooper has worked for companies such as Somerfield, Airbus and EE. He joined SunLife's team in 2007, where he worked across Finance, Marketing and Management, before being appointed Head of Distribution in 2012.

In 2021, Ian became Director of Commercial & Partnerships, and is responsible for SunLife's propositions, trading insight, partnerships and strategy. In 2025, this changed to Director of Strategy & Growth, recognising the core focus of Ian’s role.
